The 3 levels to opt-in subscriptions

When collecting email or leads it’s important that the subscriber is expecting your messages.

There are three levels to opt-in subscriptions. Each level builds on the previous level and is progressively more effective whether in ROI or Inbox Placement Rate.

1. Single Opt-in

1. End users provide their email addresses.
2. End users start receiving scheduled email messages related to the opt-in subscription.
3. No notification of subscription is sent.
4. No confirmation of consent is obtained.

2. Single Opt-in with Notification (Better)

1. End users provide their email addresses.
2. A notification/welcome or follow up message is sent to recipients informing them they will receive messages.
3. No confirmation of consent is obtained.

3. Confirmed Opt-in (Best)

1. End users provide their email addresses.
2. A confirmation message is sent to recipients informing them they must take action to complete their subscription, such as clicking a link or replying to the email.
3. The recipients must take the prescribed action, to confirm they consent to receive future messages before any subscription messages are sent to them.

In email deliverability world Opt-in is the key to high inbox placement rates.
